চলতি আইপিএলে আজিঙ্কা রাহানে অধিনায়ক হিসেবে ধারাবাহিকভাবে ব্যর্থ হচ্ছেন। এছাড়াও ব্যাট হাতে দলকে ভরসা দিতে পারছেন না। আজ গুজরাট টাইটান্সের বিপক্ষে তিনি ফিন অ্যালেনের (Finn Allen) সঙ্গে ওপেনিং করতে নামেন। দায়িত্ব নিয়ে এই অভিজ্ঞ ব্যাটসম্যান দলকে শক্তিশালী জায়গায় পৌঁছে দেবেন বলে ভক্তরা আশা করেছিলেন। কিন্তু আজও তিনি বড় ইনিংস গড়তে পারেননি। দলকে চাপের মধ্যে ফেলে দিয়ে ড্রেসিংরুমে ফিরে যান।
