এশিয়া কাপের উদ্বোধনী ম্যাচে গতকাল শ্রীলংকার মুখোমুখি হয়েছিল বাংলাদেশ। ম্যাচের দ্বিতীয় ওভারে ব্যাটিংয়ের সময় আহত হয়ে মাঠ ছাড়েন তামিম ইকবাল। তাঁর ইনজুরি এতটাই ভয়াবহ ছিল যে খেলা চলাকালীন সময়েই তাঁকে হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যেতে হয়। হাসপাতালে ডাক্তারি পরীক্ষা নিরীক্ষার পর জানা যায় তাঁর হাতের কব্জির অবস্থা আশংকাজনক।
এদিকে, তামিম আহত হয়ে মাঠ থেকে উঠে যাওয়ার পর শুরুটা ভালোই করেছিল মুশফিক-মিঠুন জুটি মিলে। তবে, ব্যক্তিগত হাফ সেঞ্চুরির পর মিথুন আউট হয়ে প্যাভিলিয়নে ফিরলে ব্যাটিং বিপর্যয়ে পড়ে বাংলাদেশ দল। এক প্রান্ত থেকে মুশফিকুর রহিম রানের চাকা সচল রাখলেও অন্য প্রান্ত থেকে ব্যাটসম্যানরা আসা যাওয়ার মিছিলেই ছিল। যার ফলে ইনিংসের ১৯ বল বাকি থাকতেই নয় উইকেট হারিয়ে বসে বাংলাদেশ।
তখন সবাই ভেবেছিল বাংলাদেশের ইনিংস শেষ যেহেতু তামিমের হাতের অবস্থা আশংকাজনক এবং এই অবস্থায় কোন ভাবেই ব্যাটিংয়ে নামা সম্ভব নয়। কিন্তু সবাইকে অবাক করে দিয়ে দলকে সাহায্য করতে মাঠে নেমে যান তামিম ইকবাল। সাহসিকতা ও দেশপ্রেমের পরিচয় দিয়ে লাকমলের পেস বোলিংয়ের সামনে এক হাতেই ব্যাটিং করেন তামিম ইকবাল।
তাঁর এই সাহসিকতার ফলে দলীয় সংগ্রহে আরও ৩২ রান যোগ হয় শেষ উইকেট জুটিতে এবং যা পরবর্তীতে বাংলাদেশকে ম্যাচ জেতাতে সাহায্য করে। তামিমের এমন কাজের পর টুইটারে প্রশংসার জোয়ারে ভাসছেন তিনি।
