মাত্র ১৮ বছর বয়সে ভারতের হয়ে টেস্ট অভিষেক করলেন আলোচিত ব্যাটসম্যান পৃথ্বী শ। আর দুর্দান্তে এক সেঞ্চুরি হাঁকিয়ে ভারতের হয়ে নিজেদের অভিষেকটা স্মরণীয় করে রাখলেন এই তরুণ ক্রিকেটার। ভারতের ২৯৩ তম টেস্ট ক্রিকেটার হিসেবে যাত্রা শুরু করা পৃথ্বী শ শুরু থেকেই স্বাচ্ছন্দ্যে ব্যাটিং করেন ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ বোলারদের সামনে।
যার ফলে মাত্র ৫৬ বলেই অর্ধশতক তুলে নিন তিনি এবং ভারতের ক্রিকেট ইতিহাসের সবচাইতে তরুণ ক্রিকেটার হিসেবে অভিষেকেই পঞ্চাশোর্ধ রানের ইনিংস খেলার কীর্তি গড়েন। তবে হাফ সেঞ্চুরি তুলে নিয়েই থেমে যাননি এই ব্যাটসম্যান। এরপর যেন তাঁর ব্যাটিংয়ের সৌন্দর্য আরও বেশি করে ফুটে ওঠে। একের পর দুর্দান্ত শটে সেঞ্চুরি তুলে নেন তিনি।
